This is a picture of the Graffiti artwork that caught my eye whilst on my walk. I have decided I'm now going to study the basics of graffiti, where it comes from and why it's done. Graffiti is relevant to the artists life in some form of way.

One Word
I have been given another brief to work on, One word. This brief is about being given one word and using all my thoughts and ideas on this word and creating a project from this. My word is 'Walk'. I love this word as I think you can get so much out of it. There are so many different elements that i could look at that surrounds the word 'walk'.
I needed some inspiration to get me started on this project so I decided on doing the simplest of things based around my word. Take myself for a walk. I literally walked around my college and looked at anything and everything around me that took my interest, photographed it, took some sketches of what I could see, then I made some notes in a note book. I then went away and assessed all the information I had gathered and searched for a starting point within this information.
After assessing the work I had gathered together, one piece of Art work kept catching my eye. This was a piece of Art that another student had put together and painted on a display block. Everything about this artwork just attracted me more and more as I studied it. The colour, the shapes, the letters, the structure, and most of all, why was this done and where did it come from? This piece of Art was 'Graffiti'.

Where Topshop started.
Topshop first launched in 1964. With a different, affordable approach to the fashion world, Topshop became a leading high street store who's designs and clothing have never been known before on the high street.
The brand began in the underground of a department store in the North of England called Peter Robinson. After a year or so, this store allocated Topshop a space in the basement of its London branch at Oxford Circus. Right In the middle of one of the city's most famous shopping streets. Less than a decade later, Topshop became a stand-alone retailer. In 1994 the brand took over the entire 90,000 square ft space, and the iconic Topshop flagship was born. Still to this day it's the worlds largest fashion store on the high street attracting over 200,000 style shoppers every week.
Topshop has sponsored the globally recognised New generation scheme ( a scheme that showcases new talent and designers) since 2002. Which has bolstered the careers of fashion heavy weights such as Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williamson. As well as emerging talents like Christopher Kane, Danielle Scutt and Marios Schwab.
In September 2005 Topshop became the first high street retailer to show on the schedule during London Fashion week when it presented its own acclaimed in-house design collection 'Unique' created in 2001.
I am now going to continue on to research this brand 'Topshop Unique'.

Topshop Unique
Brief Scenario:
"You have been commissioned by Topshop to produce a top for their "Unique" range. This piece will be a limited edition piece of clothing for their Spring/Summer 2014 range. This project will explore pattern construction from basic block making to modelling on the stand to provide you with the foundations to create your chosen design. You will look at developing your ability to translate 2D fashion designs in to a 3D garment. Research and analysis of the "Unique" brand will play an important part in your understanding of the customer base and will influence your design development."
