Recycle Designers

Here is a designer that I have been studying. Gary Harvey, Couture fashion with a conscience.  Gary Harvey first drew attention to his couture recycled clothing on the London catwalk in February 2007. This was with his very stunning dress made from 30 ' Financial Times' news papers. This was showcased in the Estethica Exhibition. Gary produced this range of clothing to change people's opinions and perceptions on second hand clothing. He explained that "Good quality second hand clothing, people wear It once or twice then discard it because its suddenly deemed aesthetically unimportant And out of date when there are years left of life in the garment.
His collection "was a comment about thinking about the real cost of the garment that you buy, about that cost being natural resources, exploitation of labour, the biodegradable nature of garments."
Other dresses are made from discarded wedding dresses, laundry bags and t-shirts. All of which have an accompanying statement about why that item of clothing was chosen.

Recycle project

My recent project I am studying is all about recycle. This project is about the importance of recycle within the fashion industry. It's about recognising the reasons of  why we recycle and how it can be used within fashion. I am going the explore the different elements of recycling and the effect that the climate changes and social changes has on this. I will also be looking at designers and artists that revolve their work around recycled products and why they continue to do this on a day to day basis.
